Management consultancies have a reputation for being training camps for future managers. Anyone who starts there quickly gains a broad range of methodological skills, learns to work under pressure and later often – well prepared – moves into management positions in industry, finance or medium-sized companies. But this model is under pressure because artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly taking over the tasks that ambitious young academics used to fill their working days in consulting.
