The night work on the Fermoselle fire (Zamora) has made it possible to “substantially reduce its danger” with the stabilization of the two fronts that were of most concern, the north and the east, although four active sectors remain with “numerous hot spots and very complicated areas.” During the night, two new towns were evacuated, Villar del Buey and Pasariegos. In total, 14 towns have been evacuated due to this fire and Fermoselle and Fariza are confined. The extinction operation is especially afraid of the wind that is expected to pick up during the afternoon of this Thursday and the high temperatures. In addition, this Thursday the containment tasks of the already stabilized fires in Ávila, Madrid and Toledo continue to avoid restarts, without neglecting other active outbreaks such as Castellón or Tarragona, at critical hours for a country exposed to the effects of the new heat wave. The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, visits areas affected by the Ávila fire, the largest recorded in Spain with some 50,000 hectares destroyed.
