Last Thursday, the Ministry of the Interior sent a food alert to the 67 penitentiary centers that depend on it regarding the possible sale to inmates in the prison commissaries of a batch of pecan nuts with “a nickel level above the values ​​admitted according to the legislation,” as stated in an internal order to which EL PAÍS has had access. The document details that the notice is made after the manufacturing company notified that it had detected 14 batches of several of its packaged products that contain this nut with percentages higher than those allowed by the EU among those supplied to prisons.
