There is an idea that opens the exhibition The cult of beauty of the CCCB that draws powerful attention. It is revealed as soon as you enter, when a canonical model sculpted with AI confesses, face to face with the visitor, that not even she is satisfied with its grace. This disappointment indicates that something is wrong with the ideal of beauty that bombards us from morning to night through the screens. Not only is it impossible, but it is arbitrary and responds to the weight of morality, social status, economic power, gender and ethnic origin at each moment in history, as shown by an extensive tour of 400 works and documents that attest to how capricious this imaginary can be. Until November 8 there is time to explore this complex exhibition, which avoids the beautiful-ugly binarism to address the reality that the screens do not show. According to its commissioners, Blanca Arias and Júlia Llull, “it is optimistic but not utopian.”
