The Kings of Spain, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, among other authorities, have received Pope Leo XIV at the Barajas airport, who begins a seven-day visit to Spain this Saturday. From the airfield, the Pontiff is heading towards the Royal Palace of Madrid, where the official welcome ceremony will take place. During the flight, the Pontiff admitted to journalists that pedophilia in the Church “is a still open sore” and that he intends to continue fighting it, as he has always done throughout his life. In the afternoon, León XIV will visit the Cedia 24 Cáritas center for homeless people, in the Carabanchel neighborhood. Then, around 8:30 p.m., he will preside over a vigil with young people in the Plaza de Lima. The Pontiff will remain in Madrid until Tuesday, when he will leave for Barcelona, where he will stay two days before leaving for Gran Canaria and, later, Tenerife. The Pope’s agenda will alter circulation in the cities through which he will pass. You can consult the affected streets and areas in Madrid and Barcelona here.
