A total of 87 people, with a total of 293 criminal records, were detained this past morning in a police unit in Barcelona and a dozen surrounding cities, within the framework of the Kanpai plan against multiple recidivism. The Mossos d’Esquadra report that, as a result of this device, in which agents from other police forces have participated, another 29 people have been criminally charged and 232 administrative complaints have been processed.

In the city of Barcelona, 42 people with 181 criminal records have been arrested, of which 30 have been detained for immigration reasons, 2 for violation of the viogen/vido program, two more for being wanted and captured and another for breaking a sentence. In Barcelona, 1,063 people with a total of 2,330 criminal records have been identified, 127 vehicles have been identified and around twenty weapons have been seized, among other actions.

In L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, eight people with fourteen criminal records have been arrested, one of them for immigration and two for breaking a sentence, and 16 electric scooters have been confiscated, while in Cornellà a repeat offender has been arrested and another six scooters have been confiscated. In Esplugues de Llobregat two people have been arrested, one of them for immigration status; In Vilanova and Cubelles two other arrests have been made; and in Badalona eight people have been arrested, seven for immigration and one for breaking a sentence.

The police have arrested six people in Sant Adrià del Besòs, one of them for gender violence, and 48 administrative complaints have been processed on the town’s TRAM line. Theft of 71 mobile phones

On the other hand, this Saturday the Mossos have also reported the arrest of a 28-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman as alleged perpetrators of the theft of 71 high-end mobile phones in nightclubs, leisure environments and major festivals throughout Catalonia. As reported by the Catalan police in a statement, agents from the Rubí Investigation Unit and the plainclothes group Fura carried out the arrest on March 1, after an investigation began when they detected that numerous stolen terminals were emitting a GPS signal from the same address located on Catalunya Avenue in Rubí (Barcelona).

Researchers have confirmed that, since March 2025, a high number of thefts and robberies with a similar pattern had occurred, mainly in nightlife venues and popular celebrations in municipalities such as Mataró, Salt, Igualada, Mollerussa, Lleida, Tarragona, Reus and Salou. The victims were mainly young girls that the perpetrators had “previously selected” in search of phones from the same high-end brand, the Mossos have stated.

A few hours after the robberies were committed, the stolen devices were located by GPS in the aforementioned Rubí apartment, which allowed the investigation to focus on those now detained, who had allegedly turned this criminal activity into their way of life and moved around using rental vehicles that changed weekly, according to the police.

The agents established a device on March 1 and, around 5:00 a.m., they intercepted the couple when they were parking their vehicle in Rubí, where they found four mobile phones that they had just stolen from a nightclub in Mataró. That same day, the Mossos searched the home of the detainees, where they located false documentation, 250 euros in cash, a mobile phone and a notebook with notes on terminal prices and dates of major festivals in Catalonia.

Investigators have proven their participation in the theft of the 71 terminals of both detainees, which total 23 police records and were brought to judicial disposal on March 3 before the Rubí court.
