The College of Architects of Madrid has taken a step that, predictably, will unblock the crisis in which the institution has been mired for a year, when Sigfrido Herráez was re-elected for the third time as dean: this Thursday, the Electoral Board has proclaimed as the winner the second candidate that obtained the most votes in those elections, Nexo COAM, with Jesús San Vicente at the head. San Vicente, according to the Board, will now be able to assume the position of dean of the professional association and has made this known through a statement in which he sets the inauguration for next Tuesday, June 16. However, the current Governing Board does not give up and in turn declares the “invalidity” of the Board’s decision, since they understand that their powers have been exhausted once the electoral process has ended. Furthermore, it expresses its refusal to abide by the decision until a judge “gives a final ruling” on the process that remains open in the courts to clarify whether the candidacy of Todos COAM, with Herráez at the head, was possible or not.
