The Provincial Court of Badajoz has handed down the first sentence on a direct relative of the President of the Government. And it is damning: nine years of disqualification for David Sánchez, Pedro Sánchez’s brother, as a necessary cooperator in a crime of administrative prevarication for obtaining the position of head of the Performing Arts Office of the Badajoz Provincial Council. The three magistrates who signed the 378-page ruling say that it was neither an “urgent” nor necessary position, which is why they conclude that it was only created to satisfy the “particular interest” of David Sánchez.
