Cosidó reiterates that he was unaware of the Kitchen police operation when it was ongoing
Ignacio Cosidó, former director of the National Police, maintained this Wednesday in the National Court that he was unaware of the Kitchen police operation, of illegal espionage on former PP treasurer Luis Bárcenas, to distance himself from the plot. “I insist again: I knew that there was an open investigation by the UDEF (Central Unit for Economic and Fiscal Crime), but I did not know that other units of the National Police were involved in that investigation,” he declared.
The former popular senator has also been asked repeatedly about the meetings he had with other commissioners, among them, his number two in charge of the police, Commissioner Eugenio Pino, and if he talked about the ongoing investigations. Cosidó has assured that he reported “more than the beginning of the investigations on the result”, thus trying to justify that he was not informed of the Kitchen police operation. “I remember Gürtel, but as a cook or Kitchen I don’t remember hearing it,” he said in his witness statement.
