At least 13 people died last weekend from drowning in Spain. Ten of them have died on different beaches on the Iberian Peninsula – while the other three deaths have occurred in a river, in a pool and in a swamp, respectively – and at least six were over 70 years old. This is the balance of three especially tragic days at the start of the summer season and in a year that until this Monday totaled 124 drowned people, according to data from the Royal Spanish Rescue and First Aid Federation, which prepares the National Drowning Report each year.
