Vox in the Valencian Community did not want to lag behind its co-religionists in Extremadura and Aragon and this Thursday registered an initiative in Les Corts in which it asks to urge the Consell to request the Government of Spain to guarantee “the national priority and sustainability of the welfare state of the Spanish people” and establish this principle in access to all social aid, public services or housing programs, as well as in access to the public benefits and pensions system. A measure that has been called racist by the Government and left-wing parties.
The formation led by Santiago Abascal presents this non-legal proposal (PNL) for special urgent processing days after stating that the principle of “national priority” is already part of the investiture agreement of the ‘popular’ Juanfran Pérez Llorca, although it had not been recorded in writing, before now both formations have reflected this concept in the government pacts in Extremadura and Aragón. Now, the ultra formation, which claims to be proud that the Valencian Community is a pioneer in the pacts between the PP and Vox, has put it black on white.
The party’s parliamentary spokesperson, José María Llanos, highlighted in a statement that the proposal registered this Thursday in Les Corts “is based on a clear political diagnosis: the deterioration of the welfare state, the overload of public services and the loss of social cohesion are a direct consequence of the policies promoted for years by successive governments.”
Along these lines, he has highlighted the importance that the State and institutions “exist to safeguard the security, justice and well-being of the national community, and that any public policy must be oriented towards that priority objective.” Llanos has placed the national priority as the “central axis of the political debate” and has proposed in the Valencian Community a model that Vox, as he stated, “has already begun to promote in other territories and that he aspires to extend to the whole of Spain.”
The initiative, the spokesperson assessed, “reinforces Vox’s positioning as a political force that proposes a reorientation of public policies towards the protection of the national community and the sustainability of the welfare state.” Furthermore, according to training sources, this approach “has already begun to be applied in government agreements such as those reached in Extremadura and Aragón, where the national priority has been incorporated as the axis of social policies.”
Specifically, the initiative urges the Consell to request the Government to guarantee “the national priority of Spaniards on all fronts of housing”, either to access protected housing, differentiated tax credits or to be the recipient of any type of related aid. It also asks to guarantee “the sustainability of our health system, preventing illegal immigrants from using it, except in cases of urgent, immediate and vital or emergency health care.” In addition, it requires establishing national priority in access to all social aid, public services and housing programs and proceeding with “the remigration of all those foreigners who, by not contributing with their work and effort to the national economy, erode the welfare state of the Spanish people.” EXTRAORDINARY REGULARIZATION OF MIGRANTS At the same time, it requests the repeal of Royal Decree 180/2026, of March 11, which regulates the recognition of the right to health protection and health care charged to public funds of foreigners who, while in Spain, do not have their legal residence in Spanish territory. In this sense, Vox is committed to approving a regulatory norm that annuls the modifications to the regulations of Organic Law 4/2000, of January 11, on the rights and freedoms of foreigners in Spain and their social integration, and to repeal Royal Decree 316/2026, of April 14, putting an end to the mass regularization process of immigrants who are in Spain illegally.” PUBLIC BENEFITS AND PENSIONS Likewise, The training also calls for guaranteeing national priority in access to the public system of public benefits and pensions and promoting “the appropriate regulatory modifications of the Social Security system to ensure that benefits and pensions of a non-contributory nature are reserved for Spaniards.” Finally, and for the purposes of recognizing the right to free legal assistance of foreigners, it establishes that the insufficiency of economic resources is determined “taking into account not only the applicant’s income in Spain, but also their assets and income located abroad, especially in their country of origin. origin.” In any case, it specifies, “free legal assistance will not be provided to foreigners in matters related to expulsion processes from national territory.”
