The forest fire declared this Thursday in the Madrid municipality of Lozoyuela is evolving “favorably”, although it is not yet controlled, as sources from 112 Comunidad de Madrid have confirmed to EL PAÍS. The Civil Guard has meanwhile arrested a man as allegedly responsible for the fire, which keeps around 2,000 people confined in Buitrago de Lozoya and the districts of Cinco Villas and Manjirón, in the municipality of Puentes Viejas. As explained by the Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, the suspect tried to flee the area, but was able to be intercepted thanks to the warning from several neighbors. The detainee had a history of similar acts, he was carrying material to start fires and his reaction during the arrest has also reinforced the suspicions of the investigators. The Civil Guard has now opened an investigation to clarify the origin of the fire.
