Just two days ago, the French video game giant Ubisoft congratulated itself on the successful launch of its video game Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. He remake of the popular 2013 game had managed to sell more than two million copies in just 24 hours. And beyond the market response, users were rewarding it with high scores and good comments, which especially highlighted the underwater levels of the title. These screens, precisely, had been created from the company’s Barcelona office, which networked with colleagues in Singapore and Canada. However, in the Catalan capital there is little to celebrate. After two and a half years on that project, the group of 51 people dedicated to it has received a dismissal letter. “It is very angry that the success of a project is compensated by layoffs,” says a worker who asks not to be quoted by name.
