When Dara Khosrowshahi takes over as CEO, he will take a close look at how the performance of the workforce can be improved to increase the company’s success. When he did that at Expedia in 2005, he overhauled almost the entire team, Khosrowshahi says in the “Diary of a CEO” podcast. He needed some “hungry people” there. According to his own statements, he would not have made any progress with new values and a performance-oriented corporate culture.
“Culture isn’t enough, you need the right people in your company,” says Khosrowshahi, who is now CEO of Uber. And high-performing people are mission-driven and are always looking to innovate and do something better. Does the promotion of performance in the company depend significantly on recruiting? Is the effect of benefits, compensation, personnel development and corporate culture on increasing performance overestimated?
