The State Attorney’s Office has joined forces with the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office in the trial of Kitchen case and, during his final argument, he has linked Jorge Fernández Díaz with the “planning, coordination and monitoring” of the “manifestly illegal” operation launched in 2013 to spy on the former popular treasurer Luis Bárcenas with a “spurious” purpose: to steal sensitive material that he could keep from senior leaders of the PP in order to, in this way, “torpedo” the Gürtel casewhich then surrounded the party. The legal services of the State have thus attacked this Thursday against the former Minister of the Interior and Mariano Rajoy’s trusted man: “(He had) constant knowledge of the evolution and the objectives achieved.” Among other goals, the plot sought to “remove from Bárcenas the papers that compromised the president.”
