The fire that broke out this Friday in La Bisbal d’Empordà, in Girona, and that burns the protected natural area of Les Gavarres, has already reached houses in an urbanization, Cabanyes de Calonge, where one has burned and another 12 have affected gardens and fences, report the firefighters and the City Council. A farmhouse has also burned. The night has been very nervous in a fire whipped by the wind of Tramuntana first and then Marinada, in which 400 firefighters are working, all those available on duty and also 100 from the Military Unit of the Army (UME) and which according to the latest official figures affects a perimeter of 2,400 hectares (with areas of its interior that have not reached the flames, which is known as green islands). Some 12,000 people from seven municipalities (the figure reached 40,000 yesterday Friday) remain confined.
