The fire that has raged in the Sierra Norte of Guadalajara since last Thursday continues to devour little by little the heart of this natural jewel. This Sunday the fire had already affected 16,000 hectares, almost double what there was on Saturday, although with different degrees of impact. There are areas with devastated trees and others where the flames have only punished the pinasa, the plant material that has fallen to the ground. The evacuated municipalities number 20, with some 800 residents evacuated from their homes, safe, however, from the flames thanks to the work of the more than 800 troops and 170 means deployed since the fire started, four days ago, in an agricultural plot. Five other towns have been confined for security. The priority, explained this Sunday by the Minister of Sustainable Development of Castilla-La Mancha, Mercedes Gómez, is to preserve the towns. “For the peace of mind of the evacuees, we have not suffered any damage to the homes,” he stated from the Tamajón Advanced Command Post.
