The Galician supermarket chain Gadis has decided to go to court to have four unions and eight union members pay it 1.2 million euros for the “damages” that the company suffered during a strike. The strike days were held between June 21 and 24 in this and other food companies in the province of A Coruña to demand salary and labor improvements in the midst of negotiating a new collective agreement. CIG, CCOO, UGT and USO, the defendant centers along with the eight members of the strike committee, have expressed their astonishment at this claim that, in their opinion, seeks to “persecute the right to strike and intimidate the sector’s personnel in their fight for a decent agreement.”
