The forest fires that already affect 45,000 hectares and have forced the evacuation or confinement of more than 88,500 people in the province of Ávila and the Community of Madrid continue this Saturday active and uncontrolled. During the night, they have made “very little progress and their intensity has decreased,” but the increase in wind that has occurred throughout the day is worrying. The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has warned that the situation remains complex: “We do not know what the evolution of the wind will be, despite the fact that temperatures have dropped,” he noted from the advanced command post in the Madrid municipality of Ceniientos (2,152 inhabitants), which has been urgently evacuated due to the advance of the flames and is moving to Navalcarnero. And the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has pointed out that the situation is “totally unprecedented, never seen before” and that it can “lead to much worse situations in the coming hours.”
