The moment that the PSOE has been waiting for for more than two months has arrived. Tomorrow José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero breaks the silence he has maintained since he was charged on May 19 with leading “an organized and stable structure aimed at the illicit exercise of influence” whose greatest success would have been the 53 million euro rescue of the Plus Ultra airline in the pandemic. Sixty-five days later, the former president will be interviewed on RTVE for the first time since the opening of the investigation, for which he did appear before the judge on June 17. Different socialist leaders admit privately that they hope he will also clarify the origin of the jewelry, valued at 1.3 million, that he kept in his office on Ferraz Street, located right in front of the PSOE headquarters. On June 12, Judge José Luis Calama opened a separate case to investigate him for tax and smuggling crimes that were added to influence peddling and money laundering.
