What does the title “Special Media of the Year” mean to you personally – and what does human resources management stand for in your eyes? In your opinion, what are the ingredients for excellent HR journalism?
For me as editorial director, it is of course a very important award and recognition of my personal work, but also that of the team. In recent years we have thought a lot about what modern specialist journalism could look like, and the magazine is an important part of that. To be recognized for this now means a lot to me.

In my opinion, the ingredients for excellent HR journalism are:
- Outstanding networking in the HR scene, so that you get to know the relevant topics
- Deep understanding of HR work so that you can really provide orientation and practical tips and distinguish what is essential from what is not
- A good mix of depth and practical relevance in the texts
- Providing information in the appropriate channels: in the magazine, online, in our newsletters, on social media and our events
Which encounter, which HR project or which interview made a lasting impression on you?
It is difficult to name a single event. Of course, I would highlight the stage conversation with Claus Weselsky at the German Human Resources Summit 2024, the conversation with Inken Gallner from the Federal Labor Court for the website or the big interviews with CHROs for the Strategy & Operations department, in which we often have really in-depth discussions about current HR topics.
In fact, I’m always impressed that top managers from the HR scene take time for me, then discuss things with me on an equal level and with a lot of appreciation and actually credibly assure me after the conversation that they even had fun. I learn something in every single one of these conversations, not just professionally but also personally – and I get paid for it.
What do you do when the magazine is printed?
Most of the time, not much, at least not much of substance. The day of the print release still requires full concentration and presence from me. After that I need a break and a cup of tea.
