Antarctica: Researchers find traces of a star explosion in the ice

For years, scientists puzzled over mysterious iron atoms in the Antarctic snow. Thanks to 80,000-year-old ice, they have now found out: They come from an interstellar cloud through which our solar system is currently flying.
