On the morning of October 30, 2021, a cyclist was hit by a car driven by a drunk young man on the GIV-6703 road that goes up to the Sanctuary of Angels, near Girona. The impact was of such magnitude that, after hitting the windshield and shattering it, the woman was thrown, over the road fence and left lying on an embankment, while the bicycle was left hanging from the branches of a tree. The driver, DCV, who was accompanied by a friend, did not stop to help the woman, who ended up dying at the Josep Trueta Hospital. This Monday a jury trial begins in which the Prosecutor’s Office requests eight years in prison for him for a crime against road safety and another of omission of the duty to provide aggravated assistance. For this same crime, the prosecutor’s office demands a fine of 5,475 euros for the companion, JVP.
