Pope Leo XIV is now in Barcelona for the second leg of his trip through Spain. At the Prat airport, Prevost was received by the Minister of Finance, Arcadi España; he president from Catalonia, Salvador Illa; and the president of the Parliament of Catalonia, Josep Rull. He then moved to the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia for a homily. During his speech in Catalan and Spanish, he called for unity: “In a world torn by wars and divisions, in an increasingly fragmented and individualistic society, we want to be ‘martyrs’, that is, witnesses and prophets of unity.” After the homily and lunch, the Pope meets with Illa. At 8:00 p.m., the second prayer vigil of this trip will take place, after the one held with the young people this Saturday in the Plaza de Lima. On this occasion, it will take place at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, where he will give a speech. This morning, still in Madrid, the Pope held an event at Ifema with the thousands of volunteers who participated in the organization of his visit to the capital and thanked them for their work in the face of “the logic of interest and profit” in the world.
