In just one month, Spain will end the express route that since 2018 has allowed tens of thousands of Venezuelans to regularize their situation almost automatically. As EL PAÍS reported, the Ministry of the Interior has formalized the decision in an internal letter in which it details the legal framework that supports the closure of permits for humanitarian reasons and sets the exact dates of the transition. As of June 12, 2026, these temporary residence authorizations cannot be granted or renewed, regardless of when the application was submitted.
