The Supreme Court must resolve, once again, an appointment chosen within the Prosecutor’s Office. Prosecutor Almudena Lastra, who was Madrid’s top prosecutor for five years, has appealed to the Contentious-Administrative Chamber against the appointment of Isabel Martín, current head of the Community in the Public Ministry, according to legal sources to EL PAÍS. The State Attorney General, Teresa Peramato, decided last April not to renew Lastra in office, something that a part of the race understood as retaliation for the fact that Lastra had testified in the trial against former Attorney General Álvaro García Ortiz and his testimony served to support the accusation for a crime of revealing secrets. This new resource returns the focus to a Prosecutor’s Office divided even before the start of the process against García Ortiz.
