Given the vote in Congress on the rent freezing decree, which is expected to decline with the vote against PP, Vox and Junts and the abstention of the PNV, the Minister of Consumer Affairs and Social Rights, Pablo Bustinduy, has stated that “what is being voted on is to give protection to three million people. Or leave them to the fate of every man for himself.” Previously, at the press conference after the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, called this Tuesday for “social mobilization” in the streets in case the decree falls. He has announced that the Government will study “all possible measures” to continue defending tenants. The PNV has announced that it will abstain from the vote due to the “lack of legal certainty” of the measure, while PP, Vox and Junts had already announced their rejection. On the other hand, Vox spokesperson in Congress, Pepa Millán, has assured that her party “is not going to allow the PP to dilute with its rhetoric” the principle of national priority, which for the ultra party means that “in the face of a collapsed system (that of the welfare state), the Spanish have to go first.”
