Abascal rejects the PP’s decalogue to negotiate: “It bothers me, it’s as if they were dealing with savages or trying to tame Vox”
The leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has assured that it “bothers” him that the PP wants to impose a negotiation framework for the talks in Extremadura and Aragon between both parties to form governments. “If they need Vox’s votes, they should ask what we want, but the fact that they set a framework as if they were dealing with savages and trying to tame Vox bothers me,” he said on Antena 3. Furthermore, he sees it “as a mistake and an offense” for the regional leaders of the PP, María Guardiola from Extremadura and Jorge Azcón from Aragon. “If they were negotiating with Junts or the PSOE, I would understand it, but with Vox, no, because it has always defended legality and the constitution,” he defended.
Asked about the decalogue presented on Monday by the PP to take the reins of the negotiations, especially in Extremadura, where Guardiola’s investiture calendar is beginning to tighten, Abascal said that the music emanating from the document sounds bad to him. “When an agreement is made with Junts or the PSOE, I understand those frameworks, that respect is asked for the institutions or the Constitution, but with Vox I do not understand it. I have personally accredited the defense of the Constitution, Vox is not going to agree on anything contrary to legality,” he said. And he added that “it is an insult” to the popular autonomous leaders themselves, whom the leadership disavows.
“The document is framed within the PP, which has a lot of confusion,” he said, in front of the programmatic unit of Vox throughout Spain, but warns that “with this it may offend those with whom it wants to agree. It bothers me that Feijóo insinuates that Vox is not a party that defends the Constitution and legality, but above all it is an offense to Guardiola and Azcón.” Abascal has assured that the PP leadership disavows its regional leaders, while Vox has “confidence” in its candidates being the ones to negotiate.
