Junts per Catalunya has activated this Monday the process to elect its candidate for mayor of Barcelona for the 2027 municipal elections, but without guaranteeing primaries. The party has opened a four-day period to present candidacies and plans to validate the candidates on June 5. From then on, an internal commission will decide whether the election is resolved by a vote of the militancy, a ratification in an assembly or the direct proclamation of a candidate, a formula that would avoid an internal competition for the replacement of Xavier Trias.
