The independent deputies of Esquerra Republicana Carles Campuzano and Francesc-Marc Álvaro presented this Monday Esquerra Democràtica (ED), an association from the republican orbit that was born as a vehicle to open the political space of the formation led by Oriol Junqueras towards the center-right. The entity has been presented to society with an event at the Casa Elizalde in the Catalan capital, where its founding manifesto has been unveiled. ED, according to that text, was born with the conviction that “Catalonia needs collective hope” and “recover confidence, ambition and a sense of country”, something that has been achieved from “the values that have made democratic Catalanism strong: freedom, social justice, cohesion, culture, the will for self-government and European commitment.”
