The general secretary of Junts, Jordi Turull, stated this Saturday in Viladecavalls (Barcelona) that his parliamentary group will not support the second royal decree approved this Friday by the Government, which includes measures on housing, within the social shield to mitigate the effects of the war in Iran. Turull has disgraced the Executive that it has approved a text that it already knows will not prosper in Congress. “Of the two decrees there is one that clearly chooses to continue suffocating the middle and working classes, which not only harms them but also the most vulnerable,” he stated, emphasizing, on the other hand, that they are in favor of the one that involves the reduction in energy prices.
Turull has maintained that what the Government or Sumar, the small party in the coalition, cannot do is “privatize the social shield” to make it fall on the middle and working classes. “What are we asking for? We have our proposals regarding housing and vulnerable people,” he stressed. “All those that give oxygen to the middle and working classes and small and medium-sized businesses will have our support; those that are intended to suffocate them will not have it.”
In his statements, Turull has claimed president Salvador Illa to rectify his fiscal policy and has reproached him for not having managed to approve the budgets. Junts wants the Executive to reduce personal income tax and has recalled the mobilizations of teachers, doctors and the complaints of Rodalies users. “Budgets are the paradigm of the instability of a submissive and incompetent Government,” he concluded.
On the other hand, the spokesperson for Esquerra Republicana in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, has charged against Junts’ position. In a message on the
