The publicist was a director of the Barcelona club for 17 years
Ferran Martorell, former president of RCD Espanyol, died this Monday at the age of 84, as reported by the Catalan entity in its official media. The publicist, a renowned parakeet, directed the blue and white entity in the second half of 1989 after the resignation of Antoni Baró: he was the twenty-second president of Espanyol. In addition to this position, he was a director of the club since 1975 and for 17 years.
Espanyol has deeply regretted his farewell: “His commitment, dedication and love for our colors have left an indelible mark on the history of the entity. Our deepest condolences to family and friends. May he rest in peace.”
The Catalan entity has highlighted the work of Ferran Martorell in incorporating club legends, such as the Cameroonian goalkeeper Tommy N’Kono or the Danish midfielder John Lauridsen. The former president was also key in the growth of the club’s youth team.
