Human resources management: What about pay equity at Vodafone?
Sebastian Harrer: Pay equity is not a one-off project at Vodafone, but rather an integral part of our strategic HR orientation. For many years, we have pursued the goal of ensuring fair and transparent remuneration – regardless of gender, origin or other personal characteristics. We do not view equal pay in isolation, but rather as part of a holistic HR strategy that relies on trust, fact-based decisions and responsibility.
When and how did Vodafone start looking into equal pay?
Anja Knauff: Vodafone has been systematically addressing the issue of fair pay since 2017. The starting point was the clear decision not only to control compensation based on gut feeling or historically developed structures, but to analyze it based on data and objectively. This also gave rise to the impulse to develop our own instruments to make possible inequalities visible and specifically address them.
