This is the third death due to a work accident so far this week in Catalonia
A worker has been killed in a work accident that occurred this Wednesday on the N-260a highway, in the municipality of Ripoll (Girona), after falling into a dirt hopper. As reported by the Mossos d’Esquadra, the accident occurred shortly after four-thirty in the afternoon when a 61-year-old worker fell into a dirt hopper for reasons that are being investigated and was left unconscious.
The medical services deployed to the scene have been unable to do anything to save the life of the injured worker. Various patrols from the Citizen Security and Investigation Unit of the Mossos police station in Ripoll, various teams from the Medical Emergency Service, a medical helicopter and the Fire Brigade have been sent to the scene of the event. The Mossos d’Esquadra have brought the facts to the attention of the investigating court on duty in Ripoll and the Business and Labor Department of the Generalitat, in accordance with the usual procedures in work accidents with fatalities.
This is the third death due to a work accident so far this week. Last Monday, a 61-year-old man died in Ulldecona (Tarragona) after falling down a slope with the dump truck he was driving for road maintenance. The causes of the accident are being investigated. Yesterday, Tuesday, a man was transporting a load on a pallet when a part fell on him, causing his death, in Begudà (Girona).
