The La Bisbal d’Empordà (Baix Empordà) fire, which burns 2,300 hectares and has forced the confinement of some 10,000 people, began with the spark of a radio that quickly ignited the forest that crosses the road that connects La Bisbal with Calonge. The flames have found a real powder keg at the gates of the Costa Brava. The Firefighters describe a particularly dangerous scenario: a forest that had not suffered a major fire for decades, with an enormous accumulation of plant fuel and subjected to extreme behavior due to the combination of north winds and marinade winds.
