Bárcenas assures that in the recording with Rajoy he could be heard destroying a sheet with the PP’s B accounting
The former treasurer of the PP, Luis Bárcenas, assured this Monday in the National Court that it was he who took the pendrive with the recordings made to Mariano Rajoy and Javier Arenas to his wife’s premises. “The pendrive with the recordings was in my house, in Genoa (by the PP headquarters) what there were were two computers with documentation, which are the computers that I never recovered and that were deleted, they were formatted coinciding with the police operation that was mounted around my family,” he explained after detailing that, in the recording with Rajoy, he could be heard destroying a sheet with the movements of the PP’s accounting b.
The first recording is with Rajoy in his office, he said: “I had previously spoken with Javier Arenas about the non-accounting accounting that we kept. There was a balance left, an amount of money, and I went up to Rajoy’s office to tell him that I have that amount and that we are not going to carry papers of any kind, I give him the last sheet of those movements where the balance appears, which I take to him in an envelope that I give him and he stays and sees the documents. (…) Well, he realizes “The turn in the chair, that is heard in the recording, he puts it in the paper shredder. The paper, which was a photocopy, is destroyed and the conversation ends there.”
Regarding the conversation with Arenas, he indicated that it was “at the Origen restaurant in Seville. (…) At that time I had already formalized, after speaking with Álvaro Lapuerta, a notarial act recording how we managed the stable funds of the Popular Party, the income that was received, from whom it was received and to what it was applied and who and who received money from the party, and that conversation was to talk about that.”
